31st Foundation Day lecture delivered at MU auditorium

mono-faculty universityMangalore: Delivering the 31st Foundation Day lecture of Mangalore University in Konaje auditorium on Monday, Prof. Ranganath, director of National Assessment  and Accreditation Council for universities and their colleges, felt concerned over the  growth of mono-faculty(single) universities like Engineering or Medical University, which had an adverse effect on the main concept of a university(like Nalanda), as these modern single faculties cannot provide Complete education and may turn out angular personalities, good only for a part of aims of life, such as high earning and being shy of others.
Students had to Suffor as without knowing basic Sciences, the study of advanced subjects would be incomplete.
All educational institutions should inculcate humanitarian (liberal)values among students, drawing them out of the selfish/corrupt attitudes, as it was important to empower state universities.
Vice-Chancellor T.C.Shivashankara Murthy in his presidential address opined that teaching research and extension of faculties were essential to meet modern world demands. India had only 12.4% enrollment in higher learning Registrar Chinnappa Gowda, Pakkeerappa, and Yedapadithaya were present in the gathering.
