Mangalore: “The district administration and the state government in the four year and 2 months has made many developmental programmes in DK and further too will continue the work in its rule’, said C T Ravi, the district-in-charge minister in his 66th Independence Day address at a special programme organized by the district administration at Nehru Maidan on the morning of Aug 15, Sunday.
Earlier, the minister hoisted the national flag in the presence of prominent personalities and inspected the guard of honor in a vehicle. Eighteen teams comprising Reserve Police, District Armed Reserve (DAR) police, Civil, Traffic, Coast Guards, Home Guards, Guides, Scouts, NCC Naval Senior, NCC Naval Junior, NCC Army Senior, NCC Army Junior, NCC Air wing Senior, NCC Air wing Junior, Bharat Seva Dal boy and girl, Road Safety Patrol boys and girls and Police Band participated in the Independence Day parade.
Minister also said that the complete development of the state is considered when the development of basic facilities takes place. Till date the state government has provided good roads, best governed transport facility, fast internet contact facility, fuel completion, good drinking water facility, compulsory education, job opportunity, market facility for farmers and other facilities.
He assured the people that the state government will implement all the proposed developmental and welfare scheme at the earliest possible.
Speaking about the developmental projects undertaken in DK during the last four years, the minister said that over Rs. 991.57crore have been spent on developing DK. He said that the state has provided the monthly amount of Rs 500 for 22693 beneficiaries under the Sandhya Suraksha Scheme, schemes implemented for the development of tourism destination in the district, implementation of 3D planetarium worth Rs 24.5 crore at Pilikula, It has also started the tender process for the construction of Ranga Mandir worth Rs 15 crore and other, he said.
The model helicopter, which sprinkled flower on the Indian Flag designed by Ratnakar Naik of Indian Aero Model Society, attracted the huge audience.
The first prize for the parade was shared by Road Satefy Patrol Boys team and NCC Airwing Junior team, while NCC Navy Junior team bagged second prize.
DC N S Channappa Gowda, Mangalore Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh, Superintendent of Police Abhishek Goyal, Deputy Speaker N Yogish Bhat and many other prominent citizens of Mangalore participated in the Independence Day programme.
As a part of the independence day, the Dakshina Kannada Sports Promoters organized the 5 over Independence Cup Cricket, in which the Mangalore Eleven Team, Press Eleven Team, Superintendent of Police Eleven Team, Deputy Commissioner Eleven Team and Mayor Eleven Team actively participated giving the tough competition to each team.
