Mangalore: The old gunnies world record for performed Yogasanas simultaneously in 362 schools by 29,973 students in 2012, has been broken on Thursday Dec.12 2013 by 70,000 students of D.K and Udupi district students a fresh. This old record stood for 18 minutes in 2012, whereas the new record in 2013 is for duration of 30 minutes between 10 and 10.30 in the morning in over 250 schools simultaneously.
The major event in performing Yogasanas like Surya Namaskar and Thrikonasanas, was conducted under the guidance of by Shanthi Vana Trust of Ujire and the SDM yoga trust under the watchful eye of Dharmadikari Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade on Thursday.
Mangalore: At Sharada Vidyalaya, over 2000 students participated in the program, “Yoga for Future – 2013” as promoted by Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala to maintain Health and happiness among the Youth and Students.
Udupi: 2625 students of Udupi schools gathered at MGM college ground to perform a dozen yogasanas and Surya Namaskars.
Kundapur: thousands of students gathered at Gandhi Maidan and performed various Yogasanas.
Belthangadi: 2960 students of Ujire and Belthangadi schools demonstrated a number of Yogasanas as also Suryanamaskars at the given time on open grounds.
There was one yoga instructor for every 50 students, and the entire event was video graphed. There were many more schools that had participated in the yoga program in the twin districts, to swell the number of participants to 70,000 on Dec. 12, 2013.
In Mangalore health Minister U.T. Khadar who practices Yoga since his younger days till today was present in excellent health, because of his love for Yogasanas.
In Udupi, Vinaykumar Sorake minister Incharge vitnessed the performance of as many as 44,117 student’s across the entire Udupi district. The balance number of students belonged to D.K district.
Finally the event of “Yoga for future -2013” has acted as a tonic to the health of lakhs of students all over Karnataka who had not participated in Youga or were not keeping good health to perform Yogasanas every day.
