Mangalore : Passengers from Dubai and Doha-Bahrain created chaos at Mangalore International Airport, after was a delay in the arrival of luggage from Doha and Dubai on October 3, Friday night.
Reportedly, the passenger had landed safely, but they failed to get their luggage on time.
According to few passengers, such chaos at airport is common during the peak seasons including Eid, Christmas and other special holidays.
Speaking on the occasion, passenger from Doha said that, he has come for five days for Eid holiday in Doha. The family had set a plan to spend in Mangalore, but Air India Express has spoilt our mood since they have not received any of their seven bags.
He also said that, AI Express officials have assured them that the luggage will arrive in the next flight which is on Monday October 6 morning. Some of the passengers will even return back to Doha on Monday, in such case how to collect their luggage, he asked.
It is learnt that, around 100 bags from Doha and 150 from Dubai have landed short at Mangalore Airport.
A senior official of AI Express in Mangalore said that baggage from the Dubai and Doha bound flights have not arrived and they cannot be blamed for this since they are trying to accommodate many passengers on board.
The delayed has been caused due to the load balance which had to shut – out that the luggage at the airport. This kind of problem has been faced in Dubai from the past three days and authorities are making all efforts to bring the luggage in next flight from Doha which is only on Monday.
He also said that at present, AI Express allows passengers to carry 10 kg extra luggage at a nominal price, which makes problem in load balance on the flight. Many airlines do not allow passengers to carry more than one baggage on board, but AI does not restrict he passengers hence passengers carry three to four heavy bags on discount sales in Dubai Duty Free.
He also urged the passengers to understand the limitations and restrictions on luggage during short holidays for their convenient.
Few passengers also condemned the AI Express for providing passes without seat numbers. The passengers get a feel of traveling in a city buses since the staff in Doha asks the passengers to sit where ever seats are available.
