Kasargod : Badiadka Police have arrested five persons in connection with the death of dentist Dr Krishnamurthi Sarpangala of Badiadka.

A hartal was also observed in the town of Badiadka demanding an NIA probe into the incident. Security has been stepped up in the area.

It may be recalled here that Dr Krishnamurthi who had gone missing on Wednesday afternoon was found dead near a railway track near Kundapur on Friday. It was stated that he was threatened by a few persons after an allegation surfaced that he had misbehaved with a woman.

Those arrested are Ashraf, Umarul Farooq, Mohammad Shihabuddi, T S Ali Poottukallu and Mohammad Hanif.

It is said a woman had lodged a complaint against the doctor accused him of misbehaving with her while she had been to his clinic for a dental check-up.

On Friday, the hartal was observed in Badiadka as per the call given by VHP.  Sharan Pumpwell who addressed the protestors demanded an NIA probe.

Police who are investigating the case, are examining CCTV footages to know about the movements of Dr Krishnamurthi after he went missing from Badiadka.
