Mangaluru : City Police have raided the residences of several leaders of the banned Popular Front of India ( PFI ). There have also been raids on residences of SDPI leaders.

The raids were held during the wee hours of October 13, Wednesday. It has been gathered that five persons have been detained.

Raids were held in as many as nine places in Panambur, Ullal and Bajpe police station limits under the leadership of City Police Commissioner N Shashi Kumar. Police also raided the residence of SDPI District President Aboobakker Kulai.

In Panambur station limits, police have detained Mohammad Rafique alias Rafique Jokatte, Mohammad Bilal Kasba Bengre while in UIlal station limits, Mohammad Rafique and Abbas Kinya have been detained. In Kankanady, Akbar Siddique has been detained.

It has been learnt that they have been booked under UAPA as well as several sections of IPC.
