BJP worker murder at Mangaluru, 4 persons arrested

Mangaluru : Pandeshwar Police have arrested four persons in connection with the murder of Janardhana Poojary (45), a car driver from Ammunje in Bantwal taluk. He was found dead near Nehru Maidan on April 18, Wednesday.

The accused are Prashanth (40) of Tiruvananthapuram, Sharath V (36) of Vittal, G K Ravikumar alias Nandish (38) of Kushalnagar and Vijay Cutinha (28) of Konaje.

Janardhana Poojary who was an active BJP worker was sleeping near the Nehru Maidan on April 18, Tuesday evening at around 5 pm when some people tried to rob his mobile. When Poojary resisted their attempts one of the accused kicked him on his chest and Poojary fell nearly six feet down, The accused who attacked him even then had later fled with his mobile phone.

It is believed that Poojary died due to the shock of the sudden attack. All the arrested are persons with criminal background.

Investigations are underway, informed City Police Commissioner Kuldeep Kumar Jain.
