Mangaluru: CCB officials of Mangaluru City police arrested three persons, including an Overseas Citizen of India, in three separate cases and seized banned substances of MDMA (methylenedioxymethamphetamine) synthetic drug, ganja, mobile phones from the arrested.
Acting on a tip off, a team led by CCB inspector Shyam Sundar H M conducted a raid and arrested Nawaz alias Nawwa alias Mudipu Nawaz, 35, a resident of Mudipu at Mudipu ground.
The police seized 15 grams of MDMA worth Rs 75,000, two mobile phones, digital weighing scale, Rs 3,200 and a bike. The value of the total seized material is Rs 1.1 lakh. The accused was allegedly engaged in selling MDMA in Deralakatte, Talapady, Ullal and Mangaluru. The search for the other accused is on.
According to the police, the accused is involved in 11 cases, including assault, attempt to murder, dacoity cases, in Konaje, Mulki and Surathkal police station limits.
In another case, the CCB police arrested an Overseas Citizen of India for selling ganja to the public and students at a flat in Bunts Hostel here. The arrested is Neel Kishorilal Ramji Shah, 35. Based on a tip off, the CCB sleuths conducted a raid and seized 2 kg ganja worth Rs 50,000, two mobile phones, Rs 7,000 and a digital weighing machine.
The value of the seized property is Rs 78,000. The arrested was procuring ganja from Visakhapatnam, it is learnt. A case has been registered at Mangaluru East Police Station.
The CCB officials also seized 27.100 kg ganja by arresting a man who was allegedly transporting ganja in a car from Visakhapatnam to Mangaluru and Kerala at Kuttikala in Neermarga. The arrested is Kiran Raj Shetty, 24, from Bambrana in Kasaragod. The police seized a car, mobile and Rs 1,500. The total value of the seized property is an approximate Rs 9.8 lakh. It is learnt that he was transporting ganja via Bengaluru.
