chikkalliUdupi: Incessant rains in the district has brought misery for residents of Chikkalli in Kundapur taluk.

The village with a population of 150 turns into a virtual island. There are several students here who go to schools and they will have to travel nearly 18 to 20 kms to reach the nearest school, shop or any office.

Heavy rains  has made life miserable all fields roads are under water and coconut and banana plantations  have been destroyed in the rain. Today the entire village itself  looks like a river. Villagers say none of the authorities have come to their help.  Leaders are only making promises but nothing is coming forth, a villager said.

They also say that the Konkan Railway Extension Project has brought more problems to people of the village.
