Udupi: The new Paryaya enthronement festival at Udupi Ashta Mutt Rajangan grounds, begins on January 18 with Sode Vidiraj Mutt’s young monk taking over the reins of religious power from Sirur Matt’s Sri Laxmivara Tirtha, with cultural programmes running for a week upto 24th .
The programme starts with a Carnatic(Southern form) concert by R.K. Padmanabha on Wednesday night(January 18), accompanied by B. Raghuram on Violin, and C. Cheluvaraj on mridangam(drums). Dayananda Mohite will play on Ghatam(pot beats).
Vittal Ramamurthy’s violin concert is set on January 19, Bombay Jayshri vocal on January 20, Rajesh Vadya on Veena (from Chennai) on January 21, a dance ballet ‘Krishnanjali’ on January 22(from Vijay Madhavan) follow.
T.M. Krishna(Chennai) sings on January 23. A Joint programme of Thenku/Badagu Thittu Yakshagana Costumes players on January 24, is due about Bheemavijaya in a war.(Samarabheema).
