Bangalore : In view of superannuation of DGP/ IGP on Nrupathunga road in city on Monday, the state government within a few hours has asked DGP R.T Ramesh to take additional charge of IGP on the retirement of Ajaikumar Singh. He was given a ceremonious farewell along with 2 other DGP,s among them Jijabai Harisigh the first woman DGP of Karnataka. A number of other lesser grade police officers in a bulk retired as on 31st Jan 2011.
DGP Ramesh has been in charge of personal appointments and training departments before he took charge of the top post of IGP.
There is a case in the high court on DGP/ IGP post demanded by a senior officer, as such the appointment needs legal clearance.
The retiring IGP who spent over 3 decades of service in Karnataka thanked one and all even lower ranks of constables and assistants in the police force for their active co-operation to him as long as he was in saddle.
S.T. Ramesh told on the occasion that he had completed 34 years of dedicated service before being elevated as the new DGP/IGP from Feb. 1, 2011, Tuesday, i.e today.
