Mangalore : The District Administration celebrated 68th Independence Day with patriotism at Nehru Maidan on August 15, Friday.
District in charge minister and Minister for Forest Environment and Ecology Ramanath Rai, unfurled the National Flag.
Later he received the guard of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, minister Rai urged the people of country to remember the freedom fighters of the country for their effort to protect us.
He said that, Congress government has put effort to work for the development of the statea and CM Siddharamaiah is giving utmost priority for the eelfare of poor and down trodden.
During the occasion, Minister handed over auto rickshaws to five people, one eco car and a Maruthi van to each coming under Integrated Tribal development scheme.
The team comprising of KSRP, civil police, traffic police, women police, home guards, fire and safety personnel, NCC army, NCC naval, NCC air wing, scouts, guides, road safety patrol girls and boys, Bala Seva Dal girls and boys and Police band gave a visual treat to the audience with their disciplined march past.
Mayor Mahabala Marla, DC A B Ibrahim, SP Sharanabasappa, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, MLC Ivan D’Souza, MLA J R Lobo, ZP president Asha Thimmappa Gowda and DK Kannada Sahitya Parishat President Pradeep Kumar Kalkura others were present.
