District Police organized Property return Parade

Mangalore : The District Police department organized a property returns parade at the premises of SP office on August 7, Saturday.


Speaking at the press meet after handing over the properties to the owners, Superintendent of Police Dr A Subramanyeshwar Rao, said that the department has recovered the property worth Rs 32, 89, 267 from the month of April  to June and has returned the property worth Rs 24,14, 042 to the owners during the parade. Around 75 percent of properties recovered are handed over to the owners, while other properties will be given after receiving the court order.


Briefing the statistics of the crime, he said that, the property of Rs 1, 67, 37,000 has been lost from the people in the robbery case in the year 2010 and around property worth of Rs 37 lakhs have been recovered. The properties recovered from Bantwal, Puttur and Sullia were alos given back at the same venue.


The files of robbery cases will not be closed unless 50 percent of property is at present only 26 percent property has been recovered.


In the year 2010, there are around 6 robbery cases, while one case of dacoit has been reported. Around 37 cases of burglary has been reported with slight improvement. The other cases have been increased to 68 compared to the previous year.


He also informed that, the department has started civilian rifle training for the people of Puttur where 48 civilians have participated and 30 in Bantwal to bridge the gap between the public and the police.


The police constables will be given refreshing training in a classroom in Mangalore, where three police officials from each station must attend it compulsorily.


Further Police IT software is being implemented, in which 4 modules out of 100 have been completed and the process is going on. The officials will also be given in house training for two constables from each station, in which they will be trained on crimes investigation, forensic science, forensic medicine and law class. Each constable will undergo one round of refreshing training, he added.
