Five dead in MP market fire

VidishaVidisha(MP): Five persons died in a huge fire that raged early this morning in a kirana market in Vidisha.

12 fire tenders have been pressed to douse the blaze, which is still continuing, police said.

The fire was first noticed at around 5 am.

So far, two bodies have been recovered, and a woman with critical burns has been sent to Bhopal.

The fire soon spread to nearby shops. Fire tenders were called from Raisen, Sanchi and Bhopal to douse the blaze.

The fire occured in ration bazaar in Kiri mohalla, a residential neighbourhood.

Local officials asked people living in the neighbourhood to evacuate their homes.

The shop where the fire originated belonged to one Chanderpal Punjabi. Chanderpal, his son, daughter-in-law and kids were staying in the building, when the blaze occured.
