Mangalore: Students of Gandhinagar Higher Primary School at Urva were a pleased lot on Tuesday, June 19. Of course, they had every reason to be pleased. They were given free books, bags, and even umbrellas, thanks to the Aid without Religion Trust which distributed the materials all worth Rs 55000 to the children.
Dr Srinivas Kakkillaya distributed bags, books to the students in memory of his father late BV Kakkillaya, a great Communist leader.
Dayananda Patali, local Education Officer, was present as chief guest. Netravathi, Headmistress of the school, Jalajakshi, President of the School Committee and others were present.
Sweets wee also distributed to the children.
