Mangalore : State Minister for Forest and Ecology and DK District in-charge Minister Ramanath Rai said that the compensation cannot be granted to the family of Kushalappa who died in a tiger attack at Pilikula Nisargadhama, since Nisargadhama does not come under the jurisdiction of Forest Department.
Speaking on the occasion, Rai said that Kushalappa was killed in a tiger attack on July 31, 2012 and if his was to be compensated, the government would give the compensation then, but now it is almost 20 months after the incident took place and government need to be follow certain set of guidelines to provide compensation.
He also said that Forest Department cannot offer compensation, but will try to provide compensation through CM Fund. Moreover, Nisargadhama has given the amount of Rs one lakh to the family of Kushalappa as compensation.
Speaking on Niddodi project, Rai said that the project was approved by the previous government and he will look that the project will not get implemented and centre cannot implement any project related to state without state government’s approval.
