Mangaluru : Government support to Tulu and Konkani films was called by Suman Talwar, popular south Indian actor who has acted close 400 movies in various languages. While in the city on Tuesday August 11 he addessed an entire press meet in Tulu, spoke much about his upcoming movie, his life and experiences in the film industry.
While Talwar, came to city to promote his upcoming Kannada movie ‘Mr Johnny’ where he is acting with Vijay Raghvendra popular Sandalwood star, had said that these days Tulu industry has been busy, but the quality of Tulu films should improve and better stories should be written. Tulu films should prompt to be dubbed into other languages. He said he is willing to act in Tulu films if he is given a character playing central role and I do not want to face any problems when I act in Tamil or Telugu films. To spread the culture heritage, language of Mangaluru., he needs a positive, and character role.
Only if the government helps the film industry can develop. Suggesting that chief minister should help Konkani, Tulu and Coorgi films. he said Kannada film industry should evolve in terms of theme, story and concept. Concept and visuals are very good in ‘Bahubali’ film everybody expects that he watches quality films and even my laundry man watches English movies because of its quality,” he added.
He said, Aishwarya Film Productions owned by J Janakirana, M Aravind and Purushotham is producing the film ‘Mr Johnny which and directed by my friend P K H Das. Actresses Janani and Milana, Vijaya Raghavendra play the lead role and the supporting actor is Rangayana Raghu, Comedy roles are done by Sadhu Kokila and Shobharaj. The film is shot at present in location at Mangaluru and will go on till August 18.with the Shooting beginning at Panambur beach and I will move on to Hyderabad for a shooting on August 19
I play the role of a character of a friendly don Shetty, who after saving him in one situation, I become close to the hero and I continue to save him from many situations. It has a strong social message while being a commercial film,with songs, fights and comedy Shooting will take place at Manipal on the last two days Locations in Mangaluru and because of the sea Last two days’ shooting will be held in Manipal. Wonderful locations inclduing the sea make Mangaluru a shooting hub. Better facilities reasonable and charges will encourage more shooting of films in Mangaluru he said
He recalled and narrated his childhood and journey in the film industry, he said, “I was born to Sushil and Kesari Talwar, and my grandfather Anand Talwar was a public prosecutor in Mangaluru. Born and brought up in Chennai. started my career as a hero in a Tamil movie in 1978, and later I got a chance to act in Telugu movie in 1982. From 1990s I entered the Kannada film industry,and Malayalam industry in 2000.. I earned fame when I acted next to Rajinikanth in the Tamil film ‘Shivaji’, and thereafter I got a call from Bollywood star Akshay Kumar for his ‘Gabbar is Back’ movie produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
“I also got a chance to act in English movie called ‘Death and Taxis’ in 1994 and it is 38th year in the film industry. I have survive for so many years, which I did not expect. My parents and my college principal backed me and I am working with the third generation. and I am fortunate to do so. My career has given me happiness. After the movie ‘Gabbar is back’ I have become bus and I am choosy about the films that I do and I look for good producer, director, character and a good story.”
This is the most memorable moment of my life, Talwar said, “The character, Tirupati Venkataramana which I played in ‘Annamaya’ was a super hit. The former President of India Shankar Dayal Sharma wanted to watch this film with me and arranged it to be screened at Rashtrapati Bhavan. I also dined with him after which he felicitated me on that occasion andsuch chance are rare for any body, and came as a God’s grace. and many awards have come my way he said
Rajinikanth,is like Gpdfather to me said Suman Talwar while speaking about film “Shivaji”. Rajnikanth always, appreciated me when. I acted well and during the shooting he would have lunch with me. He used to even call me up at night to praise my acting. For the supported he has given me,I am ready to do anything for him. he said.
Because of Akshay Kumar I got a chance to act in his film and I cannot for get that. and I continue to get chances in Bollywood and I will hold a press meet in Mangaluru in the coming days,” he added.When asked about his fluency in Tulu, Talwar said, “We speak Tulu at home in Chennai. People ask me if I know Tulu. which is my mother tongue and I cannot forget it?” Suman also revealed that he would be completing 400 films in November this year.
Sandalwood star Vijay Raghavendra said it was a great opportunity to act with Suman Talwar and that for the second time. e Sandalwood industry in Bengaluru over the proposed ban on dubbing, and is holding a rally and a protest. I am taking part in this.”
Suman Talwar added, “Regarding the issue of dubbing, now the Kannada film industry, will develop and encourage more and more original stories to be written and produced in Kannada It is a very good stand. But I request that Konkani, Tulu and Coorgi films should be permitted to be dubbed into Kannada, because they should reach the maximum number of people in Karnataka
