New Delhi: The Central Government has agreed to the proposal of branding Gold with a hallmark sign, to maintain its quality and purity, to help real buyers from fraudulent materials being palmed off as pure gold.
An amendment has been made in the Bureau of Indian standards Act, coming under the jurisdiction of Consumer Affairs ministry of GOI.
The cabinet under PM Manmohan Singh in its meeting on Tuesday, gave the approval to the crucial amendment, and has made Hallmark branding Compulsory on several other Saleable products too.
The buyers usually go in for such a Hallmark printed gold in market. It is a safety measure, assuring quality, and there are 77 products such as mineral water, cement and milk products, which have ISI or Hallmark brand certificates with them prior to sale.
