Mumbai : An early morning fire in Bandra slum houses injured 21 persons and rendered homeless over 2000 peoples whose houses get burnt in the big fire brought under control on Saturday (March 5). 4 firemen were injured on duty. Rubina ali, a child artiste who appeared in the Hollywood film “Slum dog Millionaire” lost her property in the fire to become homeless.
The fire occurred on Friday night but was controlled early morning on Saturday; firefighters stated the 21 injured are treated in Bhabha hospital in Mumbai. No death has been reported, but people like Rubina helplessly watched, as the fire reduced many slum dwellings to ashes. The 12- year Rubina said the & her family spent a night at the railway station, having lost everything they had. Rubina,s father Rafiq said on the occasion that her claims to fame had been burnt out.
The exact cause of the huge fire is not yet known. 5 gas cylinders kept in slum houses had exploded causing fire to spread quickly in Garib nagar slums of Bandra (east) near the Railway station, on Friday night.
