Mangaluru: Mangalore University’s Dr. K Shivarama Karantha Adhyayana Peeta, and Department of Kannada of University Evening College, Mangaluru jointly organized the celebration of the birth anniversary celebration at Dr. Shivarama Karantha Sabhabhavana on Monday.

Chief Guest, Retired Kannada Professor Dr Narasimha Murthy R delivered a special lecture on the unique personality of Dr. Shivarama Karantha. He expressed that each one of us should try to inculcate the values of Dr. Karantha like achieving the impossible through dedication, Loyalty etc.

Dr. K Shivarama Karantha Adhyayana Peeta Coordinator Dr. Subhashini Srivathsa presided over the function. She hoped that the life time spirit and inspiration of Dr. Shivarama Karantha enrich among us forever.

An Intercollegiate speech competition on “Reflections of Regionalism in the writings of Dr. K Shivarama Karantha” was held. Out of 26 participants, Smitha C of Govindasa College, Suratkal bagged the first prize, Lathesh Santha of University College Mangalore won the second prize, while Dhanushree of Govindadasa College, Surathkal won the third prize.

Kannada Lecturer Ashalatha welcomed the guests. Prayer was invoked by Pavithra, while Kannada Lecturer Durga Menon mastered the event. Commerce Lecturer Santhosh extended vote of thanks. Teaching and Non-teaching faculty and students were present during the programme.
