Beltangady-ProtestBelthangady :  The proposed HPCL  gas pipeline from Mangalore to Bangalore   was opposed by villagers  of Pilikala on October 5, Saturday. The villagers prevented the special land acquisition officers from conducting a survey. The officers  had left the  place unable to undertake the survey.

The locals were adamant saying they cannot let land for the project at any cost.

Reports say that a seven acre land in the village will be used for the pumping station of HPCL gas pipeline project.

Beltangady probationary DySP Sajith VJ  who interacted with the villagers assured to take up the issue with the authorities.

The land though has not been acquired for the laying of gas pipeline, large iron pipes required for at least 100 km have been kept at Nidigal, Ujire.
