Mangalore: The MCC commissioner in city Ajith Hegde called a press conference on Tuesday at MCC auditorium to begin a new drive to clean up the coastal city of Mangalore in all directions and limits, to maintain health of the people and movements of vehicles and trade concerns.
Taking to news man he referred to Karnataka Municipal Act as amended in 2013, and made it clear that any citizen within the limits of MCC found violating the amended rules related to urban cleanliness and up keep of health conditions, by creating new sense in any place by litter or physical discharges in the open, or by road sides or in any public place, will be punished by fines from Rs.100 to Rs.1000 for every act of such new sense that could bring discomfort to other people, besides an imprisonment if the act of new sense is repeated 5 times or more by one person.
Hegde stipulated that every house, office, or school and factory etc. should have its own bathrooms and toilets for physical discharges, and waste paper baskets or bins to collect solid waste items, so that diseases like Malaria, dengue or any serious ailment did not spread in any part of the city to harm common people and disturb the normal health and peace with in MCC limits.
The drive for wholesome cleanliness and health campaigns in port city will be supervised by the B grade officers and assistance working in MCC and moving about all over the city, looking for culprits under the Act (amended in 2013).
So, all citizens of Mangalore are requested to be watchful and refer their complaints against nuisance-makers to the MCC officials from now onwards.
