4 days International Film Festival inauguratedMangalore: DC Subodh Yadav formally launched the much awaited International Film Festival held at Don Bosco Hall in Mangalore on Nov 14, Sunday.
The official inaugural ceremony of this 4-day event was held at Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy (KCA) of Bangalore and the Belli Saakshi and Bellimandala units of DK district.

4 days International Film Festival inauguratedDelivering the presidential speech, award-winning film director Abhaya Simha urged the younger generation to avoid encouraging producers and directors who create bad movies.
There is a need for the directors to give good movies for an educated audience with a good taste as well as high quality cinema. At present, the audience hardly comes across good cinemas because theatres opt to show popular cinemas instead of meaningful cinemas, he said.

4 days International Film Festival inauguratedM. S. Gunasheelan, the member of the Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy (KCA) said that Belli Sakshi and Belli Mandala are two distinct bodies created by the academy at the district levels.

4 days International Film Festival inauguratedHe also said that these organizations are functioning well and further the academy plans to set up Campus Film Society (CFS) units in all the colleges across the state. Presently, such societies exist only in Kolar, Bangalore, Tumkur, and Mysore.
Nityananda Shetty, member of the organizing committee of the film festival, in his introductory speech that the KCA which was established in 2009 with the purpose to use cinema as the powerful medium among the public, is presently planning to launch film clubs in colleges and schools and film societies in all districts.
The first movie to be screened was the 1968 Kannada classic “Belli Moda.” Apart from this, 15 other international classics such as Tied Hands, Spring Summer Fall Winter, Turtles Can Fly, Train in the Tenth Floor, Yesterday, Jumping Over the Puddle Again, The Chorus, City Lights, The Battle of Algiers, The Return, Pick Pocket, Pasanga, White Balloon, The President’s Barber, and The Road Home will also be screened in four days.
