DCIB Inspector Basheer Ahmed transferred for dereliction of duty

Ronald Bhasheer AhmedMangalore: The district crime investigation bureau (DCIB) Inspector Basheer Ahmed has been transferred from his duty on charge of dereliction of duty, said the additional superintendent of the police Shivakumar here on July 9.

As per a letter issued by Karnataka Home Ministry on July 8 Basheer Ahmed transferred from his duty.

It is said that on May 21, the inspector and his team had deliberately placed a packet of ganja in the car of BJP leader and former APMC president Ronald D’Souza, a resident of Badaje in a bid to falsely implicate him in drug selling case.

Ronald D’Souza disagree that he was innocent and he had seen the cops themselves placing the packet in the car. It is said angered DCIB inspector Basheer Ahmed allegedly slapped Ronald.

The people began protesting at the way Ronald was being treated by the DCIB police. The inspector took away Ronald to the police station.

Ronald, who suffered in the incident, approached the police commissioner and also wrote a letter, alleging conspiracy and wrongful use of police against him, to the chief minister of Karnataka.

Following public protests and complaints to the level of chief minister, the department issued orders for Basheer Ahmed’s transfer.
