Mangalore : S R Patil, state minister for planning and statistics, IT, BT, science and technology said that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and union minister for culture and tourism Shripad Yasso Naik will inaugurate the Pilikula Regional Science Center which was constructed at a cost of Rs 11.5 crore in October.
Speaking at the press meet held at Dr Shivaram Karanth Pilikula Nisargadhama auditorium in Pilikula on September 13, Saturday he said that Pilikula will also get a unique 3D digital planetarium, which will be first 3D digital planetarium in entire Asia. The project work has been commenced and will complete in a year.
Minister said that there is necessary to cultivate a scientific mindset among the students of the regions and rural areas by introducing inventions and research to improve their reasoning ability and abolish all types of superstitions.
He also said that the government has planned establish another regional science center in Mysore and sub-regional science centers in ten districts, but the central government has refused to provide financial assistance. Hence, government has planned to set up sub-regional science centers in all the districts at a cost of Rs 3.6 crore each with the rate of two centers per year.
MLA J R Lobo said that workshops, training programmes will be held for children, students and for public will be undertaken.
