Mangaluru : A decision on having a separate TV channel to telecast Legislative Assembly and Council proceedings will be taken shortly, said Legislative Assembly Speaker Kagodu Thimmappa on Wednesday.
He said it was “viable” to have a separate channel on the lines of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha channels. “But it requires at least Rs. 25 crore.”
Mr. Thimmappa said he, along with the Council Chairman, had recently been to Delhi to see the functioning of the two channels. The proposed channel can generate income if it is run commercially. Otherwise, the State has to allocate funds, he said.
