Kasargod: Uduma ZP constituency has been once again bagged by Congress. Congress contender Shanwaz won the by elections for ZP member seat at Uduma constituency, on Friday.
Shanwaz beat leftwing INL candidate Muhammad Kunhi Kalnad by the difference of 1886 votes.
Uduma constituency ZP member Congress’s Paaduru Kunhimbu died recently, so the ZP member post of Uduma was vacant.
Congress’s Shanwaz, leftwing INL candidate Muhammad Kunhi Kalnad and BJP’s Babu Raj were the candidates for the by election.
The by election took place on July 28 and the results were out on Friday. Shanwaz bagged 14986 votes where as Muhammad Kunhi and Babu Raj got 13100 and 4107 votes respectively.
Before the by elections Aikya Ranga had 8 seats, leftwing had 7 and BJP had 2 seats in Kasargod ZP. There was a huge competition between Aikyaranga and leftwing for the presidential post. Now because of this win Aikyaranga has maintained its lead and rightfully it will have its own president for the ZP.
