Mangaluru: All College Students’ Association held ‘Rasta Roko’ at M G Road, near Besant College, demanding to stop ongoing Yettinahole project, on Wednesday.
Addressing the protestors Kemaru Sandipani Math Sri Esha Vittaldas said that the state government is doing injustice to the district it is implementing Yettinahole project and dumping all the MNC companies in the district.
“If this injustice continues with the district then we should think of a separate ‘Tulu Nadu’. We condemn the state government’s move, not to hold a meeting with the district people. Though MP Oscar has promised to hold meeting with the Chief Minister, but no attempts were made till now.
“There was less rainfall this year; surely there will be water scarcity during February itself. Going against the nature is not a good thing,” he added.
Former MLA Vijay Kumar Shetty said that more students join the hands with the protests, so that the protests will become successful. The present protests of the students should continue throughout the district.
“Elected representatives like J R lobo, Nalin Kumar Kateel, Shakunthala Shetty, Vasanth Bangera and others have shown their support towards the protests, but some of the top leaders of the district are mum about the project and the protests,” he stated.
He further said that though the district in-charge Minister Ramanath Rai knows the fact that there is no water in Netravati river, still he is not speaking a word about the project.
Former mayor Purushottham Chitrapura, Dinesh Holla, Dinakar Shetty, Praveen Valke and others were present.
