Kundapur: Haladi Srinivas Shetty, who had quit the BJP after missing on a minister’s post and won the 2013 assembly election from Kundapur as an independent candidate by a record margin is likely to rejoin the BJP.
It is said that he was seen at BJP’s Ekatha Samavesha held at Palace Grounds, Bengaluru on Sunday.
When the media questioned his presence at the meet, he hilariously said that BJP was his previous party. He said that at present he was unable to rejoin the BJP but would do so after completing his term. He added that he would contest in the next Assembly elections if BJP gave him a ticket.
Haladi is said to be very popular in Kundapur, Byndoor and Udupi Assembly segments. It is said that his supporters had already joined the BJP and had actively worked for the party during Zilla and Taluk Panchayat elections.
