Konaje: “Every individual must identify the difference between the fact and truth. Fake news spreads faster than truth around the world” said Mr. Sugata Srinivasaraju, Vice- chairman and Co Founder, Sunohscapes Radio Foundation.
Delivering a special lecture on “Post- truth politics and the news crisis” organised by Dept of MCJ, Mangalore University, Mr. Srinivasaraju said that, fake news is the offshoot of post – truth. There are huge consequences for fake news and is also a business he added.
Mr. Srinivasaraju said “Skill development is not enough for journalism. Journalism requires something more than this. Fact checking or verifying fake news is true journalism”.
He further said that most of the news leads to confusion in the present scenario. Social media takes a major role in spreading fake news to the entire world. Mainstream newspapers are the main tools to avoid this kind of fake news, he added.
He also said that political parties and politicians are using this kind of fake news as a tool of propaganda. Truth is showcased in a very bad manner which will be justified only in the post -truth period.
