Mangaluru : Since the launch of the Central government’s Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana, loans worth Rs 702.71 crore have been disbursed among 50,706 beneficiaries in Dakshina Kannada, said MP Nalin Kumar Kateel.
Speaking to reporters here on Tuesday, Kateel said that the Mudra (Micro Units Development and Refinance Agency) loans target small businesses and aim to encourage entrepreneurship. Under Mudra Shishu Yojana, Rs 93.73 crore has been disbursed among 28,365 beneficiaries and Rs 402.97 crore has been disbursed among 19,370 beneficiaries under Mudra Kishor Yojana.
A sum of Rs 206.01 crore has been disbursed among 2,971 beneficiaries under Mudra Tarun Yojana. The MP said that 80 proposals worth Rs 15.54 crore has been sanctioned under Startup India and Standup India initiatives in the district. Standup India scheme, aims at providing credit to and to promote entrepreneurship among Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and women. It will involve loans ranging from Rs. 10 lakh to Rs 1 crore.
Stating that 3,68,562 Jan Dhan accounts have been opened in Dakshina Kannada, he said that Rupay cards have been issued to 2,77,401 account holders so far. Of the 3,68,562 Jan Dhan accounts, a total of 2,25,980 accounts are active.
There are 1,23,505 accounts under Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), a low-cost life insurance scheme in Dakshina Kannada district. About 218 claims have been reported at a cost of Rs 436 lakh.
Under Pradhan Manthri Suraksha Bheema Yojana, 111 claims worth Rs 220 lakh have been disbursed. Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) has benefited 228 beneficiaries in 2015-16 and a sum of Rs 895.50 lakh has been disbursed in the district, the MP said.
To create awareness on Mudra Yojana, Startup and Standup India schemes, a workshop for beneficiaries will be held at Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management at 11 am on May 18.
HRD Minister Prakash Javedkar will inaugurate while Union Minister of State in Finance and Corporate Affairs Arjun Ram Meghaval will hand over sanction letters to the beneficiaries.
