Couple drowned in Kumaradhara river

DampatiMangaluru: Police with help from expert local divers have recovered bodies of the couple, who drowned in while crossing Kumardhara River on Thursday evening. The incident occurred at Perabe under Kadaba police station limits.

Police said couple Parameshwara Gowda, 56 and his wife Bhavani, 55, resident of Charvaka Kumbladi had come to Perabe to attend a wedding. While returning, instead of taking road, couple tried to cross river which was swollen due to heavy rains and were washed away. The incident occurred around 3.30pm. Local who stay close to river, informed the police.

Police and expert divers from Mangaluru who started a search operation fished out bodies of couple around 200 metres from the spot. A case has been registered at Kadaba police station.
