Mangaluru: Athena Institute of Health Sciences celebrated the Graduation ceremony of 12th batch of GNM, 10th batch of B.Sc, 7th batch of PB B.Sc and M.Sc Nursing on 21st March at 4pm in town hall Mangaluru.
Programme was inaugurated by lighting the Indian lamp by the dignitaries. Dr. Ronald Anil Fernandes, Bureau Head, Deccan Herald Mangaluru was the Chief guest and Pro. P. Girijamba Devi, Dean of AECS Group of Institutions and Secretary of Trained Nurses Association of India, Karnataka State Branch was the guest of honour.
Mr. R. S. Shettian, Chairman of Athena Institute of Health Sciences presided over the function and Mrs. Asha Shettian, Secretary Athena Institute of Health Sciences graced the occasion by sharing the dais.
Hundred and thirteen graduates received their certificate. Ms. Chinchumol Thomas who secured the fourth Rank in the fourth year university examination conducted by RGUHS in September 2017 and other 64 students who secured subject wise ranks from B.Sc and P.B.B.Sc nursing and many other prizes and award holders too was honoured.
Dr. Sr. Alphonsa Ancheril welcomed the gathering and Pro. Sr. Dhanya Devasia presented the annual report. Dr. Ronald Anil Fernandes, the Chief Guest appreciated the nurses who helps the patients in their difficult times.
He shared his experiences with nurses during his lifetime and encouraged the graduates to use their talents to the full as nurses. Pro. P. Girijamba Devi, the guest of honour appreciated the support extended by Athena institute of health sciences towards TNAI at all times and congratulated the 64 RGUHS university rank holders and the graduates.
She stressed on importance of creativity, righteousness and courage in nursing profession. She encouraged the students to believe in their individual capacities and become leader. Mrs Lerissa Monteiro and Mrs Priya Carnetto, Faculty of Athena College of Nursing compared the programme. Mrs. Sucy George, HOD of Medical Surgical Nursing department proposed the vote of thanks.
