Mangaluru: The 16-year-old 2nd PUC St. Aloysius College student Nikitha Cutinha, who was knocked down opposite Derebail Church by a woman over-speeding with her car has breathed her last. After battling for her life for days at a private hospital, Ms. Cuthina passed away on April 9th.
Nikitha is the daughter of Jerome Cuthina and Noreen Crasta couple. Jerome works in Saudi Arabia and Noreen is a senior staff nurse at A.J. Hospital. The victim was waiting for the bus on the roadside opposite to the church when the heart wrenching accident took place.
The grievous injuries she suffered included massive haemorrhage and severe blood loss, which made her condition very critical due to which the doctors had reserved a 48-hours period before deciding on her chances of recovery. On the morning of Monday at 9:45am, she breathed her last.
The reason behind this tragic accident is because of the rash and negligent driving of the woman driver identified as Sharmila, a resident of Bengaluru who owns an apartment at Bejai Kapikad in city. The victim was immediately rushed to A.J. Hospital buy a Good Samaritan and the reputed neuro surgeons of the hospital operated on her.
