MCC Bank celebrates its inaugurates 100th anniversary

mcc-bank-centenary Mangalore: The Mangalore Catholic Cooperative Bank Ltd celebrates its 100th anniversary at Milagres Jubilee Hall on May 8, Sunday.
Speaking after inaugurating the event, Oscar Fernandes, the general secretary of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) said that if shareholders agree, they will make an effort to make MCC bank as a scheduled bank taking the support from Reserve Bank of India.
Ronald Colaco, the NRI entrepreneur and philanthropist, launched the bank’s mobile scheme SWANT and has contributed Rs. 10 lakh for SWANT, which enables 20 unemployed youth to take loans of Rs. 50,000 each.
Delivering the key note address on the occasion, Dr. Edward Nazareth, the vice chairman of the bank, said that the management plans to expand the bank in other districts too. Further the schemes will be implemented to encourage more people to open savings accounts, he added.
Dr. Henry D’Souza, the bishop of Bellary performed the Holy Mass at 9:30 a.m. Shobha Mendonca, the president of KEL Dubai, inaugurated the centenary deposit scheme.
Melwyn D’Cunha, the chairman of MCC Bank welcomed the gathering; Joseph Quadros proposed the vote of thanks; George Castelino Nakre compered the programme.
John D’Silva, the senior cooperative banking leader of Mumbai; Albert W. D’Souza, the president of Model Cooperative Bank Ltd. of Mumbai; Walter Nandalike of Daijiworld Pvt Ltd; N. Rajanna, the joint registrar of cooperative societies; P. R. Palangappa, the deputy joint registrar of cooperative societies; and Felix Lobo, the NRI entrepreneur; and others were present.
