Bangalore: Where is Gali Janardhana Reddy, Tourism minister of Karnataka, has become a tourist? The Sandur Court is finding him always absent in court, and has taken the state govt. to task on Friday to get him.
A high Court bench has caught hold of state Government, as JR is given a non-bailable warrant but not attending Sandur court. Is he above law? Does the warrant take 5 months and 3weeks to serve it on Reddy, the HC asked, and has ordered the Home Secretary to explain within 4 weeks, on the position.
When a cabinet minister I wanted by a court under warrant, why the Govt. is silent on serving it? Do you want HC instructions for every summons? What happens to common people when a Govt. behaves so irresponsibly, the bench of CJ Khehar and Justice H.G Ramesh, enquired of state rulers in GJR case.
In Dharwar circuit bench, a summons issued to G. Janardhana Reddy stands cancelled, and the High Court has cancelled an appeal submitted by G.R Mohan.
Tapal Narayana, a mine owner, had filed a case against Janardhana Reddy in 2006, for state border (stones) violations and about threat on Tapal’s life. The case was registered and its enquiry is continuing in Sandur Court at present.
Having secured an anticipatory bail from the court, Gali Janardhana Reddy continuously was defying summons from the court, by absenting, so Sandur’s junior grade judge K.K Amarnath had issued on 30-12-2009 a non-bailable warrant against the minister, but this order was not served on Reddy at all by the state govt., as its minister. This was the reason behind High Court’s fury upon the Home secretary now, and its query about the defaulter.
