Mangalore: Preventive steps by way of administering Vaccine to over 2.34 lakhs of cattle against foot-and-mouth diseases and fever, have been taken up in DK district, said Dr. K.V. Halagappa, Deputy Director of Animal Husbandry department here.
The vaccine drops were given to the domestic animals somewhat like in Plus Polio programme, from 01-08-2011 under every village and rural sub-divisions, till 21st September and 87% of the cattle have been covered against diseases, he added.
In a Press release, he has advised those farmers who were bypassed by oversight, without being covered by the vaccine treatment for their cows buffaloes and goats etc., they should contact milk producers union officials, animal husbandry departmental officials, veterinary doctors and staff members, to protect their cattle from “foot and mouth” disease at large, a press release informed on Thursday, September 22.
