Bangalore: If the asset statements submitted by Madhugiri MLA Anita Kumaraswamy, wife of JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy are true, then she is richer than former minister G Janardhana Reddy.
Anita Kumaraswamy has put the official value of her assets at Rs 160 crore, Rs 16 crore ahead of Reddy’s assets, who in his assets statement for the current fiscal had shown it to be worth Rs 144 crore.
Anita Kumaraswamy’s declaration, copies of which are available with Express, also shows her husband Kumaraswamy’s assets to be worth Rs 4.33 crore.
The statement throws up other interesting revelations.
Anita Kumaraswamy has lent Rs 1.25 crore to her husband and Rs 4.96 crore to her son Nikhil Gowda.
Although she states that she lent money to Kumaraswamy, the document adds that she borrowed Rs 1.25 crore from her husband.
Kumaraswamy has also lent Rs 32.65 lakh to Bhavani wife of H D Revanna, Rs 1 crore to his brother H D Ramesh and Rs 1.03 lakh to his mother Chennamma.
The assets and liabilities from all sources for Anita Kumaraswamy stands at Rs 159.60 crore, to be precise.
She also owns 1.3 kg of gold, 40 carat diamonds, 17 kg silver and a total debt of Rs 37.98 crore.
She has a regular income of Rs 9.02 crore and has deposited Rs 37.86 crore in various banks.
Anita Kumaraswamy has a stake of Rs 74.83 crore in Amogha Broadband, Kasturi Media and other companies.
Also, she has invested Rs 2.47 crore in a company named Chennambika Films.
She has even lent money to others to the tune of Rs 11.73 crore and owns buildings worth Rs 10.09 crore.
What’s striking is the fact that the value of her assets has increased by almost 200 per cent in a year.
In her statement for 2009- 10, she had declared assets worth Rs 51.22 crore, which has increased to Rs 160 crore in the current fiscal.
