Mangalore: A delegation of Karnataka bishops led by Bangalore Arch Bishop, Dr. Bernard Moras and Mangalore Bishop Dr. Aloysius Paul D’Souza, met CM Sadananda Gowda this week to press him to withdraw all cases pending against some Christian youths. Gowda promised to write back to them by Saturday(October 29) on the withdrawal of cases. The Bishops had met Gowda after he took over as CM, once before.
Archbishop Moras explained that about 150 youths were forced to visit courts and undergo police investigations as cases were kept pending against these innocent boys. He reminded CM Gowda that Home minister Ashok, after consulting Yeddyurappa(then CM) had promised action within 45 days but nothing happened so far. CM Gowda replied that it took time to withdraw such cases. MLA Derrick Full in faw and minister Palemar were present during the visit. CM assured of a council of Christians to be set up shortly for minority development.
