Mangalore : Students of the University College in Mangalore, are up in arms against the College Principal who reportedly penalized four students who only protested against the discrepancies in the college.
The students alleged that only four of them namely Nishant B M, Tejesh, Surakshith and Yashodhara were penalized though all students had participated in the protest on June 28. They also said each of the four was asked to pay Rs 3000 and a penalty of Rs500.
One of the student who was penalised alleged that the conditions at the College Building were worse and said waste water from the Wenlock Hospital was flowing on the college ground leaving the entire place stinking.
Several classrooms were leaking and the condition is pathetic in some classrooms where the electrical wiring has no proper insulation. He also said if the management was informed they ask the students themselves to fix the same. Ladies rest room too was not safe nor were there locks for most of the rooms, he pointed.
He also informed that a memorandum has been submitted to the management seeking measures to solve the problem.
