Mangalore : There has been an inordinate delay in the arrival of the mortal remains of Late Archbishop Ambrose Madtha, to Mangalore. A special flight by which the mortal remains was to be brought has reportedly been grounded at Ethiopia due to a technical fault. There is no information as to yet regarding the arrival time though it was earlier scheduled to reach Mangalore on December 14, Friday at 10.30 am. Fr Madtha, Papal Envoy to Ivory Coast was killed in a road mishap at Ivory Coast on December 8.
It is learnt, the mortal remains would be directly taken to Belthangady where the last rites would be perform.
In the meantime, a requiem Mass was held at Rosario Cathedral led by Apostolic Nuncio to India Salvatore Pennacchio, Archbishop of Bangalore Dr Bernard Moras and Bishop Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza of Mangalore. Several priests including Auxiliary Bishop of Delhi Archdiocese Dr Franco Mulakkal, Bishop of Bellary, Dr Henry D’Souza, Dr Oswald Lewis, Bishop of Jaipur, attended the mass.
