Mangalore : Mangalore University in association with Red Ribbon Colleges affiliated to Mangalore University, District level KSAPS members and NGO, District Health and Family Welfares, District Aids prevention and control board observed World Aids Day 2013 as a part of weeklong Viveka Saptaha held at Ravindra Kala Bhavana at University College on Jan 11, Friday.
Speaking after inaugurating the event, DC N Prakash said that the awareness on Aids must be created among the youths, since most of the time HIV+ is found in them.
He also said that the HIV affected need not worry, since the government has implemented the schemes necessary for their treatments.
People need to check the blood reports and take necessary treatment to cure it, he added.
Dr Lakshminarayan Bhat, principal of University College presided over the event.
Dr Kishore Kumar, district Aids Control officer welcomed the guest and delivered the introductory speech.
ZP CEO Dr K N Vijayaprakash, DHO Dr O R Srirangappa, KMC blood cell unit director Dr Poornima, Dr Ramakrishna Rao, Dr Dayanand Naik, Dr Nagaratna K A and Dr Parvathi Appayya participated as the chief guests.
Apart from it the organisation also held the blood donation camp with an aim to collect 7—80 unit of blood with the assistance of doctors from KMC and Wenlock Hospital.
