Puttur : The Brahmakalashabhisheka of Sri Mahalingeshwara Temple, Puttur will be held on May 16 as per a decision taken at the Aroodha Prashna Chinthana held on Saturday.
The historic temple is currently being renovated at a cost of Rs 14 crores and Punarpratishta celebrations of the presiding deity as well as all other deities will be held on May 13. The festivities which will be held for 12 days will begin on May 5.
On May 23, the Brahmarathotsava of the Lord will be held followed by fire works show. On May 24, The Veeramangala Avabhatha Savari will be held while the festivities will conclude on May 25.
The meeting was attended by Ravisha Tantri, the priest, SM Prasad, the sculptor, Nanya Achyut Moodittaya, Managing Committee President and Kara Seva Pramuk Rajesh Bannur.
Nalin Kumar Kateel, President of the Renovation Committee said the annual festival of the temple was postponed by 36 days this year owing to the Brahmakalashotsava and renovation of the temple.
