Bantwal : In a case reported from Bantwal, the TMC officials themselves flouted election code f conduct and distributed almirahs to the beneficiaries of a government scheme.
The incident took place at Chendtimaru in ward number 3 here. As per the complaint lodged by locals, the election officials and police team visited the place and seized three almirahs and registered a case against the TMC Chief Officer.
It is learnt on Wednesday morning, the TMC had distributed three almirahs to three beneficiaries residing in a Dalit colony, Incidentally, one of the beneficiary was a BJP candidate of the ward. It is learnt the TMC personnel unloaded the cupboard and handed it over to a beneficiary despite his objection stating the benefits cannot be distributed due to election code of conduct.
The cupboards have mentioned under 22.75 scheme for 2011-12. Soon after the distribution of the same congress workers complained to the election officer and alleged that the cupboards were distributed at the instructions of the BJP.
A thorough probe has been demanded.
