Udupi : Udupi MLA Raghupathi Bhat has said that he will not be contesting the next assembly elections. The statement from the MLA comes close on the heels of news that a sex CD showing him in a sex act with an unknown young woman was circulating in the temple town.
The news has hit headlines on TV channels and when some channels contacted the MLA he said he was humiliated and shocked and has decided not to contest the elections.
He also said he was demanding a thorough probe into the case and declared that he will not enter politics until he was proved innocent.
The sex CD containing explicit scenes had also reached some media houses and TV channels creating a flutter. There were even reports that this was a deliberate act by some opponents of the MLA who do not want him to contest in the elections.
Earlier there were reports that the RSS and some BJP leaders did not want him to contest as he in case he contested, then the Padmapriya death case and his alleged involvement in the same, may spark trouble for the party.
Meanwhile, the Udupi MLA sees a political ploy behind the release of the sex CD. He says some forces which want to taint his image for ever have resorted to such a heinous act and clarified that he was not the man who was seen in the CD.
