Mangalore : The Indian Coastal Guard in collaboration with MPRL, Corporation Bank, KMC, A J Hospital and District Administration organized an International Coastal Clean Up Day at Panambur on September 25, Saturday.
Indian Coastal Guard commandants PS Jha’s wife POONAM Jha inaugurated the event.
Rajendra Singh Sapal, commandant of Indian Coastal Guard of Karnataka, said that this event has been organized to create awareness among the people to keep the city clean. The day is being held on the third Saturday of September every year, he said.
Around 110 NCC students of various schools and other 450 students participated at the International Coastal Clean up Day at Panambur and cleaned the waste from the beach surrounding.
Apart from it, other Coast Guard officer have participated in the event held at Thannirbavi, Surathkal, Malpe, Kumta, Karwar, Bhatkal and Murudeshwar, he informed.
