Mangalore : A special programme ‘Indra Dhanush’ was held at Town Hall in Mangalore on September 6, Thursday in commemoration of Hindi Day. The programme was jointly organized by Mangalore Akashvani, Corporation Bank, State Bank of India and Town Official Language Implementation Committee. G Jayalal, Additional Director General of AIR and Doordarshan Southern Region, inaugurated the celebrations.
Amar Lal Daultani, Executive Director of Corporation Bank, spoke on the importance of Hindi which was emerging as one of the most important languages in the world. G. Ramesh Chandran, Station Head of All India Radio Mangalore; P.S. Baliga, General Manager of Corporation Bank, Dr. Jayanthi Prasad Nautiyal, Assistant General Manager and others were also present.
Prizes were distributed to the winners of competitions held as part of Hindi Day celebrations.
There were bhajans by Mounesh Kumar Chavani and ghazals by Jithesh. A Yakshagana show in Hindi by Sarayu Bala Yakshagana Kendra enthralled the audience.
