Mangalore : A noisy protest rally was held in front of city ESI hospital premises today at 11-30am by a hundred industrial workers led by centre for Indian Trade Unions (CITU communist) against hospital mismanagement by doctors. Who also misbehaved towards patients seeking health redressal. The demonstrators raised their fists to demand better medical facilities and proper facilities inside the wards for suffering patients from those who are supposed to serve them under state care.
A memorandum was submitted for proper medical care at the ESI hospital in Kadri to the local doctor Rehman-un –nisa by CITU president J.Balakrishna Shetty, general secretary Vasanth Achary, workers leaders K.R Shreyan, and Babu Devadiga. Later, addressing the gathering of unhappy worker, V.Achary placed the various problems confronting those who come to the listeners.
He accused the hospital staff of leading a comfortable life on the cost of wages paid by the workers who contribute to ESI The authorities do not give any facility to the workers. All this in proper activity and behaviour must change within 2 weeks, he urged. The ESI belongs to workers by right and their problems should be solved quickly, he said.
