Kalkura Pratishtana organised Kathakali Art in the land of Yakshagana

Mangalore : The Kalkura Pratishtana introduced a special folk tradition to the people of Mangalore with the folk tradition across the state border from Kerala on at Town Hall on August 10, Tuesday.


The performance left the huge audience spell bound with its colour, dance and facial expression.


Mr. Pradeep Kumar Kalkura , president of the Kalkura Pratishtana brought a Kathakali troupe from Kerala, which has won several awards. The troupe staged the episode ‘Duryodhana Vadha’, an episode from Mahabharata.


This 90 minute episode showed the Dharma prevailing over the evil.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Pradeep Kumar Kalkura said that the Kalkura pratishtana was proud to present the Kathakali to Mangalorean art lovers. The every art has its own value and respecting it all over the nation will help it safeguard it in future, he said.
