Mangaluru: Kankanady town police have arrested five persons in connection with a cattle theft case.

The arrested accused are Mohammed Ashfaq, alias Shameer alias Chammi, 22, Azharuddin alias Azhar,31, Suhail,19, Mohammed Afrid,25, and Shaheed alias Chayi,19.

Azhar was involved in a case in Bajpe police station, and Mohammed Afrid was booked in a case in Kankanady. The police have recovered a car, ropes and sickle used for the crime. The four had allegedly stolen a cow worth Rs 40,000, from the cattle shed of Ashwin on July 21.

Police sized a Maruti car used for the theft, knife and ropes from the suspects. Already there are cases against Azharuddin and Shaid in Kankanady and Bajpe police stations.
